Oliver Ike, German design marketing
consultant, and Australian designer Marc Newson are the forces behind
the concept of Ikepod. Contemporary design is combined with high end
watch-manufacturing techniques. The company gets its unique name by
combining “Ike”, the surname of the young entrepreneur, and “Pod”,
the name of Newson’s limited edition designs.
Ikepod is a new species in watches which successfully negotiates the
line between advanced technology and cutting edge design. Ikepod specializes
in limited edition mechanical timepieces, so in a sense, each can
be called a rare and special breed. |

Take its Hemipode chronograph
collection, which takes its name from the rare Andalusian quail. This
collection features two distinct watches: a chronograph and a split-second
chronograph with fly back hand. The sophisticated watch movements
match the innovative design, forming a strong union of form and function.
In 1998 The Ikepod Watch Company was honored with the I.D. Annual
Design Review Award. In recognition of design excellence and innovation,
a jury of distinguished designers has selected the Ikepod Hemipode
Chronograph watch for this coveted award. |
