Kiu Tai Yu was born in China
in 1946 and currently lives in Hong Kong. He is the only worldwide
recognized watchmaker in Asia and therefore represents asias timekeeping
culture. A watchmaking master, horologist with more than 40 years
experience. He is the first person who advocated the influential notion
than Chinese pioneered the horology. In May 1970 he made his first
mechanical watch at the age of 23. During the period from 1990 to
1992, he completed three structurally distinctive tourbillon watches.
In early 1992 he became the only Asian member of the A.H.C.I., a prestigious
association with a membership consisting of watch and clock making
masters around the world. |

In 1993, he created the Kiu’s
Mystery Tourbillon series (No. 7 to No. 11). During the period from
1990 to 1998, he manually crafted fourteen distinctively different
Tourbillon watches; The Mystery Flying Tourbillon was patented recently.
No.11 is a handmade Pagoda-shaped case, consisting of three different
colors of gold, covered with a curved sapphire crystal. It is equipped
with Kiu’s Mystery Tourbillon featuring two jumping fish in its center.
The hours are displayed in a window as jumping hours. Minutes are
shown on the analog dial. |
