In February 1993 René Quinting
came up with the idea of designing a watch that was completely see-through
from the dial to the back – a fascinating idea that has occupied the
greatest minds in the watchmaking profession for more than 100 years.

So it was that a succession of
finely crafted skeleton-watches was born, each one with a mechanism
more transparent than the last, edging ever closer to this grand goal.
None, however, achieved total movement transparency. |
