Since 1985, Thomas and Felix
Baumgartner, two young watchmakers established in Geneva, are pursuing
a common project with artist and designer Martin Frei: Urwerk.
Faithful to a family tradition, as their father and grandfather before
them, the Baumgartner brothers polish their skills and always look
forward in tracking new values, all in the name of watchmaking. Their
associate Martin Frei lives and works in New York. All three, using
their inventiveness and boldness, strive to mature formal and aesthetical
expertise. |

If Urwerk apprehends creation
in a traditional way, aware of the cultural history of the art of
watchmaking, its ultimate aim is to broaden the borders of this inheritance.
The specific design of Urwerk watches keeps the quality and precision
inherited by mechanical watches but nonetheless inscribes itself in
a contemporary apprehension of time.
Urwerk endeavors to offer watch lovers an exclusive perception of
time with its double Malta cross - chiseled with precision - in the
spirit of Swiss watches. |
